How Much Does Area Rug Cleaning Cost?
2 min read

Area rugs come in every size, fiber and level of "lived on," so rug cleaning is priced a little differently from wall-to-wall carpet. Here's what to expect.
Our ballpark rug price
Area rugs are $50–$100 each, depending on size and condition, and the total order has to be at least $130 — so it’s worth doing rugs together or adding a room of carpet. That's a ballpark based on our published rates, not a final quote — your final price is confirmed in person on site once we see the rug, and may change.
What affects the price
- Size. A runner and a 9×12 living room rug are very different jobs.
- Condition. Pet accidents, heavy traffic lanes and old spills need more pre-treatment.
- Fiber. We check the fiber and dyes before cleaning. Wool, synthetic and blended rugs each get a method suited to them.
Cleaned in your home
We clean rugs in place — even over hardwood floors, using a protective tarp so the wood stays clean and dry. Most rugs can be done during the same visit as your carpet or upholstery.
How often should you clean a rug?
Rugs in entryways and living rooms collect grit fast; once a year is a good baseline, more often with pets or kids. Between cleanings, vacuum both sides now and then and rotate the rug so it wears evenly. Our guide to cleaning an area rug on a hardwood floor has more tips, and wool owners should read what to do — and never do — with wool.
